NORTHERN HUGOTON EMBAYMENT
WESTERN KANSAS
AEROMAGNETIC - BASEMENT STUDY

EDCON-PRJ is marketing a recently processed, detailed aeromagnetic
survey of the Northern Hugoton Embayment. The area encompasses 92 townships in portions of
Wallace, Greeley, Hamilton, Kearney, Wichita, and Logan Counties in western Kansas, and in
portions of Prowers, Kiowa, and Cheyenne Counties in eastern Colorado. Data were acquired
by Airmag Surveys, Inc., of Philadelphia and processed by EDCON-PRJ.
AEROMAGNETIC SURVEY SPECIFICATIONS
- Survey size: 6,925 miles
- Flight lines: East-West; 0.6-mile spacing
- Tie lines: North-South; 3-mile spacing
- Ground clearance: 500 feet
- Instrumentation: High-sensitivity, Cesium-vapor magnetometer; sampled at 0.25
seconds
DELIVERABLES
- Total Magnetic Intensity Contour map (IGRF-removed) at a scale of 1:96,000 on mylar
- Flight line location map at a scale of 1:96,000 on mylar
Color maps, on paper
- Total Magnetic Intensity
- Reduced-to-Pole Magnetic Intensity
- Second Vertical Derivative
- Susceptibility Map
- Forward Modeling Calculations
Black/White maps, on paper
- Horizontal Gradient of Reduced-to-Pole Magnetic Intensity
- Boundary picks of Horizontal Gradient
- Digital profile data and grids
OPTIONAL INTERPRETIVE WORK
An interpretation of the data set is proposed. The data analysis will focus on the
determination of basement structures and lineaments using detailed line-profile and map
analysis. Available public domain geological constraints, such as basement and Paleozoic
well tops, will be incorporated in the interpretation. Modeling studies indicate a strong
correlation between basement faults and structures and location and quality of Morrow
channel deposits.
DELIVERABLES (Interpretation)
- Stacked profile display with inferred basement structural magnetic responses
- Residual magnetic anomaly map
- Shaded relief images of residual magnetics
- Basement fault and lineament interpretation overlay
- Magnetic basement structure map tied to existing well control
The integrated aeromagnetic-geologic interpretation of basement can be delivered
approximately 90 days after commitment to purchase.
