DIGITAL AEROMAGNETIC DATA

chile.jpg (243476 bytes)

The Consejo de Recursos Naturales has flown 113 aeromagnetic surveys in Mexico. These surveys are tightly spaced with flight lines of one kilometer or less. Tie line spacing varies, but many lines are spaced at approximately four kilometers. The surveys have been published on 802 maps mostly at the scale of 1:50,000, although some are at 1:25,000 and 1:10,000. Most surveys were flown by fixed wing aircraft, but a few were acquired by helicopter. Radiometric data were also acquired in 18 of the surveys.

Pearson, deRidder and Johnson has digitized many of the maps covering areas in Sonora, Sinaloa, Coahuila, Zacatecas, and Nayarit. The data from the surveys have been edited, gridded at 500-meter spacing, and merged. EDCON-PRJ is now offering these digitized grids for sale to companies exploring these regions of Mexico. The index map overleaf indicates the extent of aeromagnetic coverage in northwestern Mexico. The heavy outlines designate areas where digitizing has been completed. The more thinly-outlined blocks indicate where data are available for digitizing. Aeromagnetic data are also available in Baja and in southern Mexico.

Additional processing products and interpretive maps such as color maps, shadowgraphs, reduction-to-pole maps, and modeling work are also available through PRJ.
